Xabi Alonso turned his back on the possibility of coaching Borussia M’Gladbach and resumed with Real Sociedad.
Xabi Alonso will not be the future coach of Borussia Moenchengladbach. The young Basque technician has been approached for this position to succeed Marco Rose at the end of the current season, but he has chosen to turn his back on this opportunity.
The 2010 world champion has decided to continue his adventure with the Real Sociedad reserve. His contract was even extended until 2022. The announcement was made on Friday.
Xabi Alonso does not want to cut corners
The former Bayern member is therefore not interested in a return to the Bundesliga. At least not for the moment. He does not want to cut corners, and continue his training in Spanish D3. Note that previously, he had been busy for one season of the Real Madrid U14s.
As a reminder, during his long career as a player, the Basque worked alongside many great coaches. Rafael Benitez, José Mourinho, Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti all had the honor of directing him.
With the refusal of Xabi Alonso, the post in Moenchengladbach therefore remains to be taken. As a reminder, Marco Rose was hired by Borussia Dortmund. He will change sides at the end of the current campaign.
