While negotiations between the two clubs continue, Raphaël Varane has expressed his approval to join the ranks of MU.
Raphael Varane has an agreement in principle with Manchester United for a contract until 2026, but Goal is able to confirm that there has not yet been a common ground found between the English club and Real Madrid for the defender.
The Red Devils have yet to make an official offer for Varane and continue to bide their time, knowing they are in an advantageous position in negotiations with the Spanish club, who have agreed to the Frenchman’s departure. No transfer is expected to be announced immediately. And Varane, who has the utmost respect for Madrid, has not asked to leave. He has nothing against waiting and being patient until his future is resolved.
Manchester United has yet to make any offers
As revealed by Goal, Madrid reluctantly accepted Varane to leave them this summer. The France international looking for a new challenge after spending the last 10 years with the La Liga giants. With Varane’s contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expiring in 2022, Madrid want to arrange a transfer as soon as possible to recover significant costs for one of their top players.
Not to miss
The center-back has an agreement in principle with United for a five-year contract, but he has not officially asked to leave and is content to leave his future in the hands of both clubs. Should he manage to rally Old Trafford, Varane will also receive a significant increase in his salary, which amounts to € 6million per year at Madrid. Either way, there is no imminent deal in sight with Varane due to be back in Valdebebas on July 23.
Losing Varane will be a blow to Madrid, who have already seen captain and legendary figure Sergio Ramos depart for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer.
Varane is serene for the rest
United fans, who have seen important targets slip through their fingers in the past due to a delay in transfer talks, are hopeful that a deal with Madrid will be put in place soon. As with any transfer, there is always the possibility that he will fail, although there is still a good chance that Varane will become a Manchester United player before the 2021-22 season.
Currently, England officials are simply playing for time in the hopes of bringing the price down, knowing that the player’s market value continues to depreciate given his contractual position at Madrid. Varane, for his part, is in no hurry either and, out of respect for Madrid president Florentino Perez and club supporters, he will not be pushing to speed up his exit.
