While he has been one of his best elements this season, Riyad Mahrez has been placed on the transfer list by Manchester City.
This Saturday, Manchester City face Chelsea in the Champions League final. This game could well be Riyad Mahrez’s last with the formation of Pep Guardiola. Despite an impressive 2020/2021 year on an individual level (14 goals and 9 successful assists), the Algerian international is among the elements likely to be transferred during the transfer window that follows.
The African champion has a contract with the Sky Blues which runs until 2023. His market value is not as high as it was a few years ago, but it is still not within the reach of the first come (42M €, according to the transfermarkt site). According to the Daily Mail, if there is a decent proposition for his services, City will seriously consider the possibility of selling him.
A PL competitor is on the lookout for Mahrez
No club has yet concretely expressed itself to sign the former Le Havre, but it is rumored that Arsenal, who wanted it already in the past, is monitoring his situation.
As for the main person concerned, he should certainly not be paying too much attention to this rumor just yet. Moreover, at 30, he doesn’t really want to move. Two weeks ago, in an interview with RMC, he even clearly expressed his desire to end his career at City.
