A Barça midfielder would no longer smell of sanctity within FC Barcelona.
Barcelona face a number of key decisions regarding contract renewals at the club this summer and among them is the Carlos Alena case.
Leaving or staying in La Liga, Alena’s choice
The midfielder, who was loaned to Getafe in January for the remainder of the season, has caught the attention of several clubs across Europe.
Alena’s contract expires in 2022, giving the club two options. One is to extend. The other is to sell, to prevent the Catalan player from leaving for free at the end of next season. Anyway, according to Marca’s information.
Not to miss
The Spanish daily claims that one of Alena’s options is to stay in La Liga. José Bordalas was very satisfied with his performances, so much so that he became a regular holder for Getafe.
Bordalas’ recent departure from Valencia could see the midfielder joining him at Mestalla. But there is also the possibility that Alena could leave Spain.
In England, reports suggest the Wolves are interested. Selling Alena could provide much-needed funds for Catalan giants – who are in desperate need of financial income.
The two sides are expected to meet in the coming days to discuss the 22-year-old’s future.
Alena have struggled to make a first-team impact at Barcelona since making their debut in 2016. The competition for places is fierce and has already led the Spanish player to two separate loan spells from the club.
Barça have just started their transfer window in a very good way, offering Manchester City defender Eric Garcia and Skyblues striker Sergio Aguero.
