Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has to decide on his next club in the coming days, and all roads seem to lead to Paris.
Several factors push him to sign at Paris Saint-Germain, but a key consideration will be – according to an indiscretion from AS – the presence of Neymar among the Ligue 1 giants.
Ramos is a longtime admirer of the Brazilian, so much so that he once urged Madrid president Florentino Pérez to sign the star during an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena SER. Ramos and Neymar have a very good relationship and, since the departure of the 35-year-old from Madrid was confirmed last week, the duo have reportedly exchanged several messages.
Neymar recently extended his contract with PSG until 2025, when the president of the Paris club, Nasser Al Khelaifi, promised him that high-quality recruits will be hired to strengthen Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Ramos fits this project and his arrival would be welcomed by Pochettino, not only because of his leadership on and off the pitch, but also his experience in the Champions League, a trophy he has won four times and which continues to escape the Parisians.
The Madrid defender is currently in talks with four clubs: PSG, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester City. In each case, his requirements are the same: he wants a two-year contract, with the possibility of an additional 12 months if certain objectives are met. The Spaniard is not only looking for the most attractive sporting project but also a transfer that is best suited to his wife and four children, so this is a decision he is trying to think through very carefully.
