Former Real Madrid legend referred to the Parisian player in glowing comments
Roberto Carlos, who holds a management position at Real Madrid, has admitted that he believes Los Blancos president Florentino Perez will speak again with Sergio Ramos to discuss the extension of captain Merengue’s contract.
Ramos has entered the final weeks of his current deal, which expires on June 30, and there hasn’t been much talk of progressing in the talks, but Roberto Carlos believes that will change.
“He is currently recovering from an injury,” Roberto Carlos said in an interview with Eleven World. “I’m very sure there will be a conversation between Sergio and the president to reach an agreement. Sergio is the face of the club, a great player and we’ll see what happens.”
Not to miss
Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé is a player Real Madrid have followed for years and a move could be considered this summer, as he prepares to enter the final year of his contract with PSG.
“I am a big fan of Mbappé. I am very grateful to him for placing me in his historic eleven as a left-back,” noted Roberto Carlos.
“He is a very important player in the world of football. There is a lot of talk about his coming to Real Madrid, but he has a contract with PSG.
“Our working philosophy is to wait for what the player wants, and we don’t touch players who have contracts with other clubs.”
Real Madrid’s apparent plan B is to see if they can lure Erling Haaland away from Borussia Dortmund, as the 20-year-old’s father and agent has already visited Los Blancos’ training facilities a few months ago.
“He’s a great player, a great player,” said Roberto Carlos. “A lot of people didn’t know him. Over the past two years he’s improved game after game, season after season. He is a player with a lot of qualities that any club in the world would want.”
