The return of the Belgian international to competition is once again postponed.
Eden Hazard will not make his return against Liverpool, the Belgian winger was not selected in the group of Real Madrid in anticipation of Tuesday’s shock in the Champions League.
Hazard has not played for Real since March 13 due to a hip problem. Manager Zinedine Zidane said at the weekend the Belgian responded well to treatment and was hopeful that he could call on the former Chelsea strategist for the opposition against Liverpool.
However, the Belgian did not do enough training in the legs to be able to hold his place in this kind of meeting. His name therefore does not appear in the list of the 21 summoned.
The good news for Zidane is the return of Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan midfielder returns to the competition after being immobilized in the victory over Celta Vigo on March 20.
Hazard recently lived through a very delicate period marked by repeated injuries. He has not been spared since his arrival at Real from Chelsea in the summer of 2019.
Zidane wants to be careful with Hazard
Since the player has had a lot of relapses in the past, Zidane does not want to rush his return.r. “Eden must be calm”Zidane said at a press conference on Monday, ahead of the team’s announcement. “We never risk a player coming back if he’s not ready. We’ll do it little by little and see when he plays again. It’s like that right now.”
Real’s last meeting with Liverpool was the Champions League final in 2018, won 3-1. Their previous two encounters were 1-0 and 3-0 victories for Real in 2014, with Liverpool not having beaten the Spanish champions since 2009.
Liverpool have progressed since that lost game in Kiev in 2018, but Los Blancos are in attractive form and Zidane will be keen to secure an advantage in the first leg.
