Real Madrid fulfilled their task this Saturday when they received Eibar. Karim Benzema has found the net again.
Despite complicated playing conditions, due to heavy rain, Real Madrid did not fail in their duty this Saturday against Eibar, penultimate in the La Liga standings. The Merengue have signed a precious success. A victory which allows them to put pressure on the leader of the championship, Atlético.
7th game in a row with a goal scored for Benzema
A Real Madrid match without a goal of Karim Benzema we have not seen for almost two months (February 6). And the series was further stretched this Saturday after the Frenchman provided the break for his family. In the 73rd minute, the French scored his 18th goal of the season (and for the 7th meeting in a row) by taking up with a nice blow of the helmet a stung offering from Vinicius Junior.
Benzema relieved his training, because it was not really calm with only a small goal in advance. In the 41st minute, Marco Asensio opened the scoring in this part by converting a crushed shot from the left to a deep serve from Casemiro. But, it was then necessary to take shelter and the locals struggled to do so.
Asensio had already hit the mark for the first time in the 37th minute, but this goal was invalidated due to offside. At the heart of the second half, Casemiro had experienced the same mishap (71st). A questionable decision. Fortunately for Zinédine Zidane’s team that the feeling of injustice did not last too long.
Courtois’ inconsequential blunder
The Madrilenians could have won more clearly, but they could also have been caught. In the 62nd minute, Thibaut Courtois was very close to conceding the equalizer by missing a control because of the state of the ground. He finally managed to catch up by clearing in extremis on the line. A fear without consequence therefore.
By winning this Saturday, Real are now only three units behind Atlético, but with one more game played. From an accounting standpoint, it is therefore a great operation. And it is the same for the mind before going to measure against Liverpool for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
