Ousmane Dembélé, striker for Barça and the Blues, is a fan of a totally unexpected club.
The talented Barça winger Ousmane Dembélé is a great supporter of … Leeds United.
The old Rennais even goes so far as to play his contacts to be sent the shirts of Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Philips by the French goalkeeper of Leeds Illan Meslier.
It was Patrick Bamford who revealed the pot aux roses. The Peacocks striker with 14 goals this season in the Premier League told an episode of the English club’s YouTube podcast that Meslier asked him for his shirt after the recent meeting against Fulham.
“After the Fulham game he said ‘I need your shirt please’. I said ‘yes, no problem. Who is this for?’ He replied Dembélé. I asked if it was Barcelona’s. I said ‘what, he wants my shirt?’ He said ‘yes he wants yours and Kalvin’s (Philips) because he’s a huge Leeds fan and he watches all the games’.’ Is it serious? Ok but I want his jersey back ‘”, reveals Bamford.
“And so the other day on FaceTime, at midnight, he calls me and he shows me the Barça jersey with the message ‘to my brother Bamford’, signed Dembélé.”
Meslier, who is currently playing the Euro with the hopes, crossed paths with Dembélé at Clairefontaine and we already know what the two men talked about.
As a reminder, Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko gave some advice to Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele ahead of Ukraine’s game against France on Wednesday.
“He is a very talented young player, who needs to be a little more patient to finish.
“He should take the risks and work a little more.” One thing Dembele has in his favor as he finishes is his unpredictability, as his 28 goals for Barcelona are split evenly between his right and left feet.
