To strengthen its defense next season, Olympique Lyonnais could bet on Marcelo, relegated to a substitute place on the side of Real Madrid.
After Marcelo’s contract extension a few weeks ago, Olympique Lyonnais could soon afford their namesake. Based on information from Don Balon, Juninho has reportedly contacted Real Madrid left-back for a transfer this summer. A great architect of Real Madrid’s domination over Europe over the past decade, Marcelo no longer has his 20-year-old legs. The Brazilian has even been sidelined by Zinedine Zidane since the outbreak of former Lyonnais Ferland Mendy. The 32-year-old defender could therefore be tempted by an adventure in Ligue 1, especially as Florentino Pérez is actively looking for a way out against a check of 10 to 15 million euros.
However, it is likely that the resident of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium will only be interested in Lyon if he qualifies for the Champions League. A goal still far from being secured by the men of Rudi Garcia, who are currently in 4th position in the championship, three points behind leader Lille.
