In Europe, the press has been on fire since the Special One’s return to Serie A after 11 years. According to the transalpine press, the Portuguese technician would have in the viewfinder some Real Madrid players, in particular the Brazilian left side Marcelo. The idea was reinforced at Jose mourinho, after the unfortunate injury of Leonardo Spinazzola during the quarter-final of Euro 2020, Belgium-Italy, last Friday. The Real player would therefore replace the Italian, although the operation promises to be complicated. The Portuguese coach is said to have even called Marcelo to express his attention to recruiting him for the next season.
Mourinho wants Marcelo to replace Spinazzola
Leonardo Spinazzola’s injury could affect Real Madrid in two ways. First of all, because the Merengue club were interested in the Italian side, who, before his injury, made a remarkable Euro. In addition, the unavailability of the player, would lead to another consequence in Spain, that of the departure of Marcelo for AS Roma. The new coach of the Italian club, José Mourinho, takes a strong interest in Brazilian Marcelo, whom he had under his command from 2010 to 2013.
The Portuguese would have contacted the player personally as reported by the daily AS, expressing his interest. The Real side finds himself in a vice with the arrival of David Alaba and the competition with Ferland Mendy. The player, who has celebrated his 33 years, seems to be at the end of the race at Real, and could opt for a departure allowing him to acquire more playing time.
The Brazilian wants to finish his contract at Real
If the departure of the Brazilian to AS Roma seems a judicious operation, the operation seems however compromised by the will of the player and that of Florentino Pérez, to end his contract at Real. Indeed, Marcelo only has one year left to go free on the transfer market. The player, at the club since 2006, has won everything with the Madrid club, and despite his advanced age, he remains an example in his post. Roma, in signing him, would bring significant experience to Mourinho’s fledgling project for the seasons to come.
