Carlo Ancelotti tried to attract David Luiz to Real Madrid during the previous summer transfer window.
David Luiz, the experienced Brazilian defender, has just returned to his country to join the Flamengo team. The former international Auriverde has therefore given up on European football. But, before crossing the Atlantic, it did not take much for him to take up the most prestigious challenge of his career in a major club on the continent.
Ancelotti wanted his former protégé
According to the media Globo Esporte Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real, contacted Luiz personally, to try to convince him to join the Bernabeu. This acquisition would have cost nothing Merengue since the former Parisian was free from any commitment.
The two have already worked together at Chelsea in the second half of the 2010-11 campaign after the Brazilian signed for the Blues from Benfica during the January transfer window.

Ancelotti’s attempts to sign the 34-year-old failed, however, as Madrid were already crowded with extra-community players. The Brazilian compatriots of Luiz, Eder Militao, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo belong to the category in question within the current merengue squad.
Note that another European club trying to get their hands on David Luiz, in this case the LOSC. In vain, the champions of France failed to convince the player to return to Ligue 1.
