Brilliant with Italy at Euro 2020, Manuel Locatelli caught the eye of Arsenal leaders.
Sassuolo sporting director Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that Arsenal have made an offer for Manuel Locatelli while Juventus are also interested. Locatelli, 23, impressed at Euro 2020, scoring two goals for Italy in the 3-0 win over Switzerland and helping the Azzurri reach the quarter-finals. Locatelli’s performances, combined with a strong 2020-21 campaign for Sassuolo who finished eighth in Serie A, drew attention and Carnevali has confirmed Arsenal and Juventus’ strong interest in the prodigy.
“Arsenal is ahead”
“Juventus are the only Italian club we’ve spoken to about Locatelli,” Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia. “They are interested, we spoke to [Federico] Cherubini last week. We haven’t discussed the financial details yet, but we have a good relationship and will come back to that soon. It is true that there are interested foreign clubs, including Arsenal, and so far they are ahead and are the only team to have made an important offer for Manuel.”
