A Liverpool legend speaks out against a possible arrival of Erling Haaland at the Reds.
According to legendary former Reds player John Barnes, Liverpool do not “need to buy an Erling Haaland unless the club lose one of the starting strikers”. Barnes does not see any Reds ready to do summer splurges, as he told the media Goal : “I don’t see Liverpool signing a big signing this summer, unless one of their famous players leaves. “
Liverpool must snub Haaland
The former England captain took an in-depth look at the Reds’ squad and concluded that there is no room for Haaland. “Getting Virgil van Dijk back in shape is like a new recruit. Ibrahima Konaté came to play alongside him, and Liverpool still have Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. Once Liverpool get their defenders and midfielders back, as long as they keep the core of the squad they have what they need. With Konaté signing, Diogo Jota, who can play with all three in front or all three in midfield, and players like Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaquiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are still in the squad. So unless Liverpool are losing players it is difficult to determine what they need ”, Barnes analyzed again.
