After a Championship season at Stoke City, John Obi Mikel leaves Potters for lucrative destination. Nigerian international midfielder has signed up with Kuwait SC for a season. The 34-year-old ex-Champions League winner did not activate the option he had to make a second season in Staffordshire. “Even though John had activated the second year of his contract, we had a deal that we would let him go if a significant overseas opportunity arose. John is a fantastic professional and has been a great support to us last season both on and off the pitch, especially with the young players in our first team, ”said Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill.
