The Girondins de Bordeaux intend to get rid of their attacking midfielder, Hatem Ben Arfa.
Hatem Ben Arfa should not do more than one season in Bordeaux. The former French international is no longer part of the plans of the Gironde management due to the very disappointing performance he has displayed since joining the club last summer. According to the daily Sud-Ouest, the criteria for the lifting of the player’s optional contract year “have not been met”.
Ben Arfa did not take his chance
Ben Arfa has an engagement which ends on June 30th. He had an optional year in his lease, but it will not therefore be lifted. His departure is all the more likely as he did not live up to the expectations of coach Jean-Louis Gasset. The latter even felt betrayed by the one for whom he had personally campaigned for the coming, convinced that he could regain his level of OGC Nice.
In addition to Ben Arfa, Bordeaux should also see Youssouf Sabaly leave, who rejected the extension offers. It should also be noted that Nicolas De Préville, Maxime Poundjé and Vukasin Jovanovic will also be free soon, and their future remains uncertain, in particular due to the absence of a buyer.
