Gerard Pique trained with the rest of his teammates on Thursday ahead of the Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid on Saturday.
The 34-year-old center-back also worked at the Barcelona training ground on Wednesday, despite Ronald Koeman giving his players a day off.
Pique is gradually recovering from his injury, but it remains to be seen whether he will be available to Koeman for Saturday’s Clasico at Estadio Di Stefano.
The Catalan defender is keen to help his side in the latter part of the 2020/21 season, but the Dutch coach has made it clear that he will not take any unnecessary risks and rush his player back to action.
Therefore, Pique will only travel to the Spanish capital in the event that he has fully recovered from his knee injury. Meanwhile, Antoine Griezmann did not attend Thursday’s session as his third child, Alba, was born this morning. Oddly enough, her three children were born on April 8.
The Barcelona defender suffered a ligament sprain in his side’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Sevilla.
“I will try to play against Real Madrid. I will go day in and day out,” Pique recently told TV3’s Nexes.
“I will try to be there as soon as possible, but not especially for Real Madrid.”
Barcelona have regained 12 points from La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid in the past two months after a run of madness.
Now Ronald Koeman’s men find themselves one point behind Los Rojiblancos in the La Liga table, with the impression that Barcelona have become the new favorites to win the title. In addition, on Saturday they will face Real Madrid in the second Clasico of the season at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.
