After selling Gerson to OM, Flamengo goes shopping for OL

After having sold Gerson to OM, Flamengo would like to recover an OL midfielder this summer. He might be tempted to join the Brazilian club.

With the signing of Brazilian Gerson at Olympique de Marseille on Thursday, Flamengo has lost one of its best players. Wishing to strengthen its workforce this summer, the Auriverde formation would like to continue negotiating in France, with Olympique Lyonnais. Flamengo is currently trying to convince OL to give him his defensive midfielder, Thiago Mendes (29).

Thiago Mendes would like to leave OL

According to Brazilian media information UOL, a loan from Thiago Mendes would have been offered in Lyon, but Jean-Michel Aulas and the Rhone management would prefer a sale. For his part, the former Lille would be ready to join Flamengo and would have even expressed desires to leave for OL.

Bought in Lille for 25 million euros in the summer of 2019, Thiago Mendes should not leave at any price. After a complicated start, the defensive midfielder has regained playing time this season under the orders of Rudi Garcia (33 matches in all competitions, 2 goals) but faces big competition from his buddy.
